Distributing Calven Agent via JAMF

Distributing the Calven Agent via JAMF involves several key steps, each of which are detailed below:

Step 1: Load the Calven Agent package to JAMF

Step 2: Create a Smart Computer Group that includes computers that do not have the Calven Agent installed

Step 3: Create a policy to deploy the Calven agent when it is not on a computer

Step 4: Add the Calven Agent configuration profile to JAMF

Step 1: Load the Calven Agent package

  • In Jamf pro, access Settings->Computer management
  • Select the “Packages” tile
  • Click “+ New”
  • Upload the CalvenAgent.pkg

Note: You have control over which version of the Calven Agent is utilized by your employees - the Calven Agent does not automatically update itself. When you want to roll out a new version of the Agent, you will need to load the new package into JAMF manually.

  • Set the criteria “Application Title does not have “CalventAgent” or (Application Title has “CalvenAgent” and Application Version is not “1.0.6”)” (Substitute the target Calven Agent version)

Step 3: Create a policy to distribute the Calven Agent

In Jamf Pro, select “Computers”

  • Select “Policies”
  • Click “+New”
  • In the “General” section
    • Give the policy an appropriate name, such “Deploy Calven Agent”
    • Enable the trigger options “Login”, “Enrolment complete”, “Recurring Check-in”
    • Set the execution frequency to “Once every day”
  • Select “Packages”
    • Select “Configure”
    • Add the Calven Agent package
  • Select the “Scope” tab
    • Add a target
    • Select “Computer Groups”
    • Select the Smart Group created above

Step 4: Add the Calven Agent configuration to a profile

In Jamf Pro, select “Computers”

  • Select “Configuration profiles”
  • You can either create a new profile or add the payload to an existing profile.
    • The scope of the profile must include all of the computers that receive the Calven Agent policy
  • Select “Application and custom settings”
    • Click “Upload”
    • Click “Add”
