Location and Bluetooth access
Why does Calven need my location and Bluetooth access?
If you have enabled the mobile access feature in Calven that allows you to use your phone instead of an access card, Calven will request location and Bluetooth access.
Calven uses Bluetooth to securely provide your access card details to the security reader.
Security readers include a Bluetooth “beacon”. When location access is granted, Calven can detect and respond to this beacon even when the Calven app is not on screen.
Can I disable location access?
If you do not provide location access then you can still use Calven instead of an access card, but you will need to open the Calven app to do so.
Can I disable Bluetooth access?
Calven uses Bluetooth to securely provide your access card details to the security reader. If you do not allow Bluetooth access then you cannot use Calven instead of an access card.
Why does Calven need “Always” location access?
In order to detect card readers even when Calven is not open and on-screen, you must allow “Always” location access permission.
During the first few days of using Calven you may see a prompt on your phone to either provide or continue the “Always” location access permission for Calven.
It is important that you allow this access.
If you choose not to allow this access you will need to open the Calven app before using card readers.
You can manage the location access you have provided to Calven in the Settings app on your phone.
